Dear Jennifer-of-a-second-ago,
You are good enough.
I love you as you are.
Dear Jennifer-of-the-present,
You are good enough.
I love you as you are.
Dear Jennifer-of-the-future,
You are good enough.
I love you as you are.

It's as simple as that! Good to see you.
ReplyDeleteShort and sweet. Very nice job. I wish more of us believed these simple mantras.
ReplyDeleteWell done! But, you are better than good enough, imo. Very nice, very nice.
ReplyDeleteAh. Perhaps if I say that often enough to myself, I'll begin to believe it?
ReplyDeleteI remember when I had my first son, and was feeling as frazzled and uncertain as most new mothers do. My Health Visitor said to me 'don't try to be a perfect mother, there's no such thing. Just be a 'good enough' mother. That's all children need.'
I found those words very reassuring.
That's what EVERYONE should think. I learned to enjoy my flawed self at an early age and it's stood me in good stead too.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to have learned that simple phrase ("you are good enough") from Janine Hancock, an expressive arts therapist at Sheena's Place (http://www.sheenasplace.org/index.php?page=janine-hancock)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was SOOOOO ill with anorexia and bipolar disorder, those words reminded me that I didn't need to do anything other than be me!
Wonderful! I love this post. It does say so much. Thank you!
